A & B - The outer leaf of the building is either of block and plaster or brick providing
an external weatherproof finish.
C - The stainless steel wall ties used to tie the outer leaf of brick or block to the inner
leaf of timber frame. These are necessary in order to keep the block or brick wall straight
and steady.
D - A waterproof breather membrane which keeps out dampness but lets air through,
which allows the timber frame to breath.
E & F - The structure of the timber frame sheeted with an external ply creating a solid
structural wall.
G - Thick quilt insulation providing warmth and comfort where it is needed most i.e right
next to the inside of the house.

H - A vapour barrier stopping moisture penetrating from inside the house into the timber
frame walling.
I - Plasterboard finish which is dry lined and left ready for painting.
