Timber frame homes crafted with care and designed to make a statement…River House, Castledawson
Project Overview
-
After years spent living in an older property in the centre of a busy village, our clients had a passion for designing and building a house ecologically. They found a plot that suited their needs in terms of size, cost and location and the result is an impressive, modern, timber frame home with enviable views of the River Moyola.
A key requirement was to create a highly thermally efficient home while incorporating expansive glazing that frames and celebrates the spectacular views.

An idyllic setting, this home has been thoughtfully designed for days of calm and relaxation, with views to the rear of the garden overlooking the River Moyola.
The build had to be in keeping with the local area and respectful of conservation and sustainability standards which the client felt deeply about. The structural design took the form of a home with attached outbuildings and the surrounding landscape embraced a more natural form that is both eco and wildlife friendly.
Other highlights include floor to ceiling windows/sliding doorway to the rear and other bespoke architectural details
-
The finished build has exceeded our expectations and we feel extremely fortunate to live in such a comfortable home, in such a beautiful ecological setting. When you set out on a self-build journey, it can be a momentous task, with so many myths and untruths about the building process, but with clear planning and a bit of research we can honestly say that we’ve had a pleasurable experience and ended up with a property that’s unique to us which suits our lifestyle and family requirements.”
