SoLow Passive House Study Visit - Alliance Party

Setanta Construction recently welcomed representatives from Alliance Party of Northern Ireland to our premises in Magherafelt on a study visit of Solow – Ireland’s first ever volumetric social housing project constructed to complete Passive House standards.
With a continued focus on building affordable housing and delivering sustainable, healthy homes for future generations here, it’s important to stay connected by inspiring, educating and promoting more action towards sustainable construction.
A shift towards Passive House construction is picking up pace throughout the sector and as qualified, Passive House certifiers Setanta Construction has piloted a fast and affordable solution to a more greener and sustainable way of living.
During the study visit, Alliance Party attendees got the chance to hear from Director, Mark Gribbin about the concept behind SoLow and the technical details of Passive House design and how the standard, once considered unattainable for those living in social housing, is increasingly becoming a viable option when it comes to energy efficient construction.
Afterwards, participants got the opportunity to step inside the Solow House to further explore the various stages of the build, looking at the good quality insulation materials used during the design process and state of the art mechanical heat recovery ventilation system that helps guarantee optimal levels of comfort.
